Battery Logistics FAQs
What types of batteries do you transport?
We transport all major classes of lead-acid batteries used in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for telecom sites and data centers. This includes:
- Flooded (wet cell) batteries
- Sealed lead-acid (SLA/VRLA) batteries
- Gel cell batteries
- Modular or canned batteries
- Round cells and cylindrical cells
- Mobile cart-based battery systems
We routinely handle battery systems from top UPS and battery manufacturers such as:
- EnerSys® (PowerSafe, DataSafe, HX, SBS)
- East Penn / Deka®
- GS Yuasa / C&D Technologies
If your batteries are part of a custom cabinet or on-site integrated system, we have the tools and experience to safely unpack, hoist, and install them. Whether it’s a telecom node, edge data center, or central power room, we’ve likely worked with your configuration before.
How quickly can my batteries be installed after shipping?
Once batteries arrive in our warehouse, we typically can schedule battery delivery within a week. Obstacles to scheduling are: disconnecting junk batteries, building new stands, permitting / crane scheduling (if needed). We’ll work with you before the batteries even arrive to schedule all the moving pieces for your installation.
What should we do if a junk battery is cracked?
It is best practice to drain any cracked or leaking battery before attempting to move it. The acids inside batteries are very corrosive and can hurt people or damage property. If you suspect that a battery is cracked or leaking, call us and we’ll have an experienced battery handler look at photos of your situation to determine next steps. If needed, we’ll have the battery drained so it can be safely transported to a recycler.
Who gets recycling credit for Junk Batteries?
If you have several strings of batteries to recycle, it is usually most economical to accumulate them in our warehouse and have them picked up by a tractor trailer for recycling. For small quantities of batteries (under 10k lbs), we typically take them directly to the recycler, who will give us end-of-life documentation and a receipt for recycling. Any proceeds from recycling will be credited against your invoice from us.
My site or installation is complicated, can I talk to your project manager?
Absolutely! Call our main office and describe your situation and we’ll schedule a call with our battery logistics manager, who has been working at McCall Trucking for over 20 years. He will be on site for your battery removal or delivery and is a great resource for planning.
